Staying connected with your workforce does not have to be difficult when you plan to travel during the summer months. In fact, it can be downright easy if you have the right programs installed on your devices. Here are some of the best ways to stay connected with your workforce while traveling this summer.

Use Texting Apps

More and more people are using texting apps to stay connected with family and friends across the globe these days. Who says you can’t use these apps to stay connected with your workforce too? There are plenty of texting apps out there to choose from, including WhatsApp, Tango and Viber. Sending text messages from these apps typically costs much less than sending traditional SMS messages.

Use Free WiFi Networks

If you don’t plan on using WiFi to update important information or share company data with co-workers, then don’t hesitate to use free WiFi networks to stay connected. Once you connect to the free WiFi network, you will be able to have video calls with your workforce, send emails and log into your company’s internal system no matter where you are located. Just be extra careful when sending pertinent information.

Get a Roaming Package

Depending on how far you are traveling, consider getting a roaming package for your summer trip. The package will allow you to stay connected with your workforce during your trip without costing you an arm and a leg. Calculate ahead of time how many conference calls you will be making while on your trip, and how much data you think you will use. Then, choose a plan that best fits your calculations.

Use a GSM Compatible Phone

Make sure your phone is GSM (Global System for Mobile Communications) compatible before you leave for the trip. Check which phone providers use GSM the best prior to leaving and make sure your phone works with it.

Is Your Phone Unlocked?

You will also want to unlock your phone prior to the trip. This means you will be able to connect to different networks if your trip is overseas. If you cannot get your phone unlocked, consider a roaming package like we mentioned earlier for your trip.
